TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA

WITH iCanGo

How To Obtain a TRV

Acquiring a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is a simple process for those who are eligible. To visit Canada, you only need to fulfil basic requirements such as:

  • Valid Travel Document
  • No Criminal or Immigration Related Charges
  • Have strong ties back home (to ensure you will return)

The Immigration Officer at the border will determine your entrance eligibility. Upon your arrival, you may be subjected to a quick interview where you will be asked questions. You should be prepared to disclose your departure details and financial well-being during your trip.

EXTEND YOUR STAY IN CANADA

Temporary Visa Extensions

An Application is necessary for any Visa Extension. Applications are open 30 days from the date of expiry.

You can and should apply 30 days before your status expires to:

  • Extend your visitor, Student or Work status,
  • Change your permit type (for example, from a study permit to a work permit) or
  • Change your permit condition(s) (for example, if you are studying and you want to change schools, or if you are working and you want to change jobs)

Most visitors are allowed to stay in Canada up to 6 months at a time.  A visitor record will be stamped in your passport disclosing the date you need to leave Canada.
